Hosted by Writing My Own Fairy Tale, the first challenge for Bout of Books 17 is to list your favorite and least favorite book-to-movie adaptation, reasons optional.
So, my least favorite book-to-movie adaptation is quite possibly the Harry Potter series. This is because character’s personalities were changed(/butchered), plot points were taken out, unnecessary scenes were added in, etc. The worst offender was probably the sixth book/film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
My favorite, on the other hand, is – at least right now – Stardust by Neil Gaiman. I love both versions and, while I know they changed quite a few things for the movie (especially the ending), I can accept that a decent portion of it was because of the change in medium.
Even if you’re not participating in BoB17, what are some of your favorite – and not-so-favorite – book-to-movie adaptations?
