It’s WWW Wednesday, a weekly reading meme hosted by Sam over at Taking on a World of Words. To participate, answer the three w’s and link up with Sam’s masterpost. No blog? Leave your answers in the comments section.
The three w’s are:
What are you currently reading?
What have you recently finished?
What will you read next?
Currently Reading: Thanks to a surprise change in weekend plans, I’m not done with Tower Lord by Anthony Ryan just yet, but I’m still moving through it relatively quickly and greatly enjoying it.
I’m making steady progress with Deadhouse Landing by Ian C. Esslemont, my current Malazan novel. I’m absolutely loving getting to see younger versions of familiar characters which means I’m moving through it a bit better than normal for a Malazan novel.
My ‘light read’ to balance these two is The Sword of the South by David Weber, the (so far) final novel in the War God series. It’s different from the prior novels in the series and I’m not sure I appreciate those changes quite yet, but it’s early days yet.
Recently Finished: I flew through War Maid’s Choice by David Weber, partly because it’s a ‘light read’ and partly because the structure of the chapters encourages you to keep turning pages. I liked it quite a bit, although the series as a whole remains very typical epic fantasy with good-vs-evil lines clearly drawn. Not that there’s anything wrong with that from time to time! I’ve decided that I won’t be posting a review of this novel (or its sequel up in the Currently Reading section) because I haven’t written reviews for the prior novels in the series and I don’t want to just ‘jump in’.
Reading Next: My next book is still The Shadow Hour by Melissa Grey. I’ll probably pick it up once I finish The Sword of the South.
